Slipping
What if you found a world where you could be whoever you wanted, but to be a part of it, you would have to sacrifice your life in this world? Would you do it? What if the world you found never really existed? Such is the choice that Joy, a young girl with a vivid imagination, must face as she delves into a world of online entertainment known commonly as role playing games, or RPGs. The fantasy seems harmless; it allows her to exercise her creativity, and make new friends, but in the end causes her to become obsessed, driving her to spend more time on her computer, than with her family and friends in real life. She loses sight of her goals and ambitions as all she can see is the fun she is having. She does not realize that even as she defeats enemies and adversaries in her world, real danger lurks within the games. The people who play these games are not always what they seem to be. Her parents plead with her, and pray that she will stop before it’s too late, but she doesn’t listen. Suddenly the situation becomes hazardous, and it seems it may be too late for redemption. Will Joy make the right choice? Or has she slipped too far?
